Help for Non-Profits, Arts Groups

Smaller charitable organizations with less than $500,000 in revenue no longer will be required to have annual audits done by a certified public accountant (CPA), which cost an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 or more, consuming much of the agencies’ funds.

Thank you to the outpouring of residents who brought in old, used and tattered American flags to our June 13 flag collection events in Old Lyme and Old Saybrook. 

Golf Carts in Beach Communities

The state House and Senate have voted to allow towns to permit the use of golf carts on local roads, as proposed in January by state Rep. Marilyn Giuliano.  
The golf cart issue was included in a major bill, SB 1081, updating numerous state motor vehicle laws. It now awaits signature by the governor.
